Captain America: The First Avenger Review

So I literaly just got back from seeing Captain America and it was...pretty spectacular. To start off with anyone who complained about Chris Evans needs to just see this movie and they will shut up. Evans does a fantastic job as Steve Rogers both Pre-Super Soldier weakling with a good heart and as the famous war hero. He and Sebastian Stan both are great in their scenes together as Cap and Bucky. Speaking of Bucky, he was awesome! In this Bucky is not the do almost nothing sidekick who is there to speak to the kids, no he was pretty boss in this.
The whole supporting cast was actually really good. All the acting from Tucci, Jones, and Atwell was very well done.
Dr. Abraham Erskine kind of serves as the mentor role to Steve when he's going through the training at the facility and I was very sad when he died. Not as much as my sister of course who did not know he was going to die so she was absoluley shocked, same with Bucky. Stanley Tucci played his part perfectly and I was happy with all of his scenes.
Tommy Lee Jones was very fun as Colonel Philips and I felt he was the perfect choice for the role. Haley Atwell also was great as Agent Peggy Carter who serves as both the strong female lead and the protagonist' love interest.
Now for the villain. Hugo Weaving is fantastic as the mad Johann Schmidt or better known as the Red Skull! He does Cap's arch nemesis justice. I was very happy with his performance. His accent was evil and menacing(Those bloody German villains always creep me out!) Also as a side note the Hydra soldiers looked amazing! As did Cap and Red Skull's costmes.
The action scenes were nice and the whole World War II setting was good, although I was hoping to see something dramatic along the lines of Cap at D-Day or something. So overall it was two hours of a very compelling story and very nice performances along with some awesome scenes of Cap and the Howling Commandos against Hydra.
I give it a 8.5/10
Stay after the credits

A look back at G.I.Joe: The Rise of Cobra

So with all of the G.I.Joe Sequel news I have had ROC on my mind. I recently re-watched the movie and I thought that this would be a good entry.
So to start with let's look back to the lead up. The summer of 2009 was full of fan revolution. So many Joe fans were shouting "DETH OF TEH LINE!" with their minds made up already that this would suck. Myself included. So I went the extreme and boycotted the movie with no reason to see it while a little bit of me eagerly wanted to. So after a year of boycotting I watched it because I was bored. I actually hated myself...I kind of liked it. Oh sure it wasn't perfect but I enjoyed myself but I kind of denied its good parts. So a few months later I watched it again and I finally realised...I like this movie a lot even with some big plot elements that I hate. So unlike my oldest brother I awaitfor the sequel with excitment!

So even though I like it, I have to say the few things that could have been fixed and could have made this a great movie.
1) Duke/Baroness/Cobra Commander: If they had not had this wierd everything revolves around Duke then I could have believed more of it other than "Oh he coincedentley knows all of these guys including Hawk." If they had just Duke and Rex(Who would not be the Commander) then it would have been more interesting.
2) We need a funny black guy: I feel as though they made Ripcord black so they could have a funny black guy. They could have fused Rip and Heavy Duty into Roadblock who is a heavy weapons expert but is a funny black guy. Simple. Although I am okay with black Ripcord I thought Rip was always a serious character in the comics. Oh well.
3) Destro has no honor neither does Storm Shadow: Enough said.
4) Accelerator Suit: I know everyone said they sucked and then said it made the chase scene awesome but I am not a fan of G.I.Joe relying on too many gadgets to save the day. It sounds weird and maybe it is just me but I thought that was pushing it. If the suits were not so invincible/superhero fast then I could accept them. Maybe this makes no sense to you. Oh well.
5) If you need CG and wires to do the stunt then don't bother: I always preferred my Joe Verse to be realistic and I think of the characters as real people who cannot flip over cars in the streets of Paris(I'm looking at you Snake-Eyes!).
So that is all the criticism that I have. Maybe you liked this post or not I don't care. So anyways let's get ready for the sequel!
